Last Basic Photography Class...And some Summer Goals...

I really enjoyed taking this photography course. Our last class we were told to "bring in the bad and good photographs from the semester." So the last class my classmates and I took our photographs and put them on the tables in the classroom. During class after all my classmates had their photographs laid out we went to each table and said what we liked and didn't like of each others. My teacher wanted us to pick our favorite photograph but some picked a few photos because they could not pick one. My final grade or the course was an A. My teacher said some kind words at the end of the class. Before we left  our teacher asked each of us to gave him one photograph for him to keep with our name on the back. I am thankful I had a great teacher and kind classmates.
Next semester, I have a Digitial Photography course and I am definitely looking forward to it. One goal I have before the fall semester starts is to buy my Canon dlsr camera by the end of June or sometime in July . This summer I hope to learn more about photography. I hope to buy a portfolio to put my photographs from high school in. I would love to learn how to write my name on my photos so no one takes them. After I learn how to do that I hope to share my photos from high school. I hope to learn more photography terms. I recently started an intership nearby and a friend of mine invited me to a wedding in September with her and I look forward to seeing her before then. This summer I hope to accomplish these goals of mine and read about photography to expand my photography knowledge.

Picture This

My past two photography assignments went well but, I didn't take my digitial camera along with me. I hope to share the two photo shoots when I recive my film scanner. The one photo shoot I took pictures of my parents,my sister, and my cousins kids. When I took pictures of my parents I tried to accomplish them kissing like the couple on Vday. I thought the image came out cute and it was funny as I was taking the picture because my mom was laughing. I took pictures of my parents holding hands and some of them sitting at a table sitting while they laugh and smile. The location of the images wasn't great but, it worked out. Half I took in my backyard of my parents and sister and the other half I took at my cousins house. Some of the images I took of my cousins kids were posed and not posed. I took a picture of my uncle who is the grandfather with a couple of his grandkids. I enjoyed capturing my family as they laughed, smiled and looking serious.  I liked taking each photograph speciality my cousins kids because they are so little.

This is fascinating

home.jpgThis is a film scanner and I find it so fascinating. I would love to have this and I hope to get this sometime next month. Their is a offer going on the website I belong to. The website that is having a offer going on and has great choices of eqiment and called B&H Photo digitial video camera. This film scanner was rated with four stars. It has has great reviews and most people responded with helpful comments. Some of the helpful reviews was it is easy to use,it is fast and it gets the job done. It is really cool that your film images will turn into digitial prints to edit and print. Prints from the film strips can be saved to a memory card or to a computer. Just talking about this film scanner makes me want to buy it now. It has a great price as well. Whoever came up with the idea for a film scanner is a creative person.

Anything I want photo shoot two...

I am thankful enough that I have friends to allow me to take pictures of them.  A few of my friends Sarah and Amy who let me take pictures of them for my photography class.  We were allowed to take pictures of anything once again, which I didn't mind. I thought it was great.  So I decided to take one roll of film of portraits.  We went to a park right near by elm wood zoo.  It was cold out but, the weather wasn't too bad.  Here is a preview of some of the pictures that I took from that day.  I didn't edit them too much because in my photgraphy class I don't,since it is a film class all the images are black&white. These images are from my digital camera but, I took the same images with my film camera.
This is my friend Sarah.I like this picture because she isn't directly in the center of the photo. Also,I like that it shows shadows and the trees in the distance and the pathway. I like how she isn't looking at the camera and she is turned to the side with a serious face.

I like this image because I like how my friend is holding the camera taking a picture while I am taking a picture. The camera she is holding is my film camera,it is a cannon. I am taking this image with my digital cannon.A picture of a picture is one of my favoriates.

I like this because I think it shows great depth of feild. It shows the depth of feild from the three trees that are lined up.

I wanted to share this one because it was one of sarah's favoriate photos I took that day. I was just trying to experiment with taking a photo I haven't taken yet. It is a fun kind of a silly photo.

I like this photo because I like how she is looking up and it looks like the picture was not meant to happen. It looks like she is looking at something fascinating in the sky. I like the perspective in this photo  of the sidewalk  curved and it is a photo from on the ground.
Sarah is to the left and Amy is to the right. I like this because they are turned around facing me. I like how this photo has a lot of shadows as they walk on the pathway and the trees in the background. These are a few of my friends.

Anything I want photo shoot...

A couple of projects ago my teacher told the class to take pictures of anything as long as we took our pictures outside. My brother had baseball practice during the day,so I went to the park around the corner from my house. I took pictures of my brother practicing and I took pictures of people in the park I did not even know. For instance, I took a pictures of a father pushing his son on a swing,a father pitching to his son,a group of people playing baseball,a couple walking on the trail,a mother pushing her daugther on the swing, and some of the landscapes. Thankfully it was a nice day out so I waked around the pictures turned out well. I would like to share some of the pictures I took.

I love this picture because it is a action shoot. I like that my brother is jumping to catch as I am taking the image.

I like this image because I like the perspective. I like how the fence is in the picture and I meant to take a picture with the fence in it and I think it is cool how the people through the fence seem clear. I think it is a great depth of feild image. What makes this photograph depth of feild to me is the boys are on the pitcher's mound and the man in the background.

City Life

Before spring break our assignment was to take pictures of crowds or city life. I decided  to go down to the city of Philadelphia to the train station and the flower show. The theme of the flower show this year was Paris. As we walked in we saw the bottom of the eiffel tower, flowers, vendors,a band ,and we could smell the great smell of flowers. I went to the flower show with my mom and a friend of hers. It was nice afternoon and I enjoyed seeing all the unique kinds of flowers. This was my first time at the flower show and I would go back if I get a chance to. I think it is a great way to bring in spring and get ready for the spring weather. The train station is crowded with business people and vacationers. For this assignment I have a combination of pictures of inside the train station, outside the train station, and the flower show. I would like to share some of the pictures that I took that are my favoriate's.
This one is one of my favorite images because it is a close up and I think it shows great perspective. I love the color and the flower.
When we walked into the flower show this is what we first saw.  It was a unique sight and amazing.  The eiffel tower looks so real and unbelievable, that it could possiably be the the real eiffel tower.
This image I think came out better with my film camera, but this is with my digital and I really love the look of it. I like how this image has a old time feel. This image reemids me me of a scene from a movie where men are shoe shining on the street.
I like this image because I think you get the feel of how the city really is everyday. When I think of  the city one of the things that come to mind are taxis.

Depth of Feild

One of my assignments for my photography class was depth of feild. I have never taken depth of feild pictures before. At first I thought it was going to be challenging but, it wasn't. Before I started shooting my images I learned a little about depth of feild. Depth of feild is when you focus on one object and is when their is a distance between the nearest and further object. My teacher wanted everyone to try to accomplish focusing on one object and have the background be blury. I was excited to try to accomplish this because I love the look of these pictures but, I have not been able to do it. I took pictures my pictures at Morris Arboretum. It was my first time at Morris Arboretum and I thought it was beautiful. I would go back in an instant. I had so much fun taking pictures their. The picture above I took at Morris Arboretum and I zoomed in and took this with my digitial but,I took the same picture with my film camera. I changed this image to a black and white because I would like you to get the perspective of how it would look with my film camera. The only difference of this image on my film camera is it may not be blury.I hope you like this image of mine.

A good friend once told me

My friend Liz had me listen to this song and she said "everyone should listen to this song everyday". I agree I think everybody should listen to this song everyday.I love this song. I think it is so true. I would suggest anyone listening to this song because I think it is advice and something to think about. One of my favoriate lines in the song is "do something everyday that scares you". If you would like listen to this song,it may just inspire you,and let me know what you think.

I couldn't belive it!

Yesterday in my photography class we devolped our film and then we were in the dark room making pictures. As I was opening my film,as always I had a little trouble. I felt determined and I did not want to give up. So even though opening may have took me longer,I did it! I was shocked.I didn't have to ask a teacher or one of my class mates for help. It may be simple, but the simplest things make me happy. I was so excited and relieved. I do need to have more confidence in myself,I have to change questioning myself. I know I can do it,and I just have to keep trying. Being able to open my film yesterday made me have more confidence in myself. I should not doubt myself,it is a bad habit. I am going to stop that bad habit and have more confidence in myself. To me it doesn't matter how much time it takes to complete a task as long as I complete it.

Dream Destination

For as long as I can remember the number one place I have always wanted to travel to is Paris,France. I have always wanted to go to see the eiffel tower. I have been saving for as long as I can remember. This image is taken by Roger Viollet.. I love this image it is so cool,it is black&white,it has great perspective, and it is a great close up.I actuallly have this photo as a poster. I know someday I will travel to Paris,France, but for now I dream of the day when I go.  When the time is right I will go.

Some of my favoriate Quotes

"Shoot for the moon.Even if you miss, you'll land amoung the stars. -Les Brown

A new favoriate of mine

The other night with a few friends I rented the movie "Eat Pray Love". I loved it I thought it was so fascinating. I loved that it showed adventure, humor,a love story, and sadness. I really like this movie because it is a true story and that is what makes it so great. It is so cool to watch a movie and think someone actually did this. The main character Liz Gilbert(actor Julia Roberts) was so determined to find herself and never gave up.I find it so cool that Liz Gilbert wrote about this.I have not read the book, but I have heard great things about it. She traveled to Itlay,India, and Bali.In each country she discovered something different, and along the way it showed the people she met and came to become friends with them. In Italy she dicovered the food and learned how to speak in italian. In India she prayed and met a new friend who lives in taxes. In Bali she found love and happieness with herself. Each place she traveled to she met new people, and they were very kind to her. I give her a lot of credit for traveling alone and risking everything to find herself. A lot of people would not have the courage to travel alone, but she did. Traveling alone can be scary ,but it didn't stop her. I find it so amazing that she was so unhappy and then she decided to do something about it and was happier once again. I would suggest this movie to just about anybody, because I think it gives a few messages and one of them being if you are unhappy you don't have to stay that way. This story seems very rare and it is one of a kind.I don't belive I have ever heard a  story like this before. She also made you think just because you want to do something and you haven't done it,does not mean it is ever to late to accomplish that goal. This story makes me want to travel similar to how she did.How cool would it be to travel to three countries and change your life? It sounds unbelievable to me.

Decisions

I am not sure what I should do.I do know I would like a dlsr camera. But I still feel undecided on what kind of camera to get. I am working on saving for this camera. But how do I decide between a Nikon or a Cannon? I still need a little more time to save for this camera, but eventually when I am ready I will buy it. Every time I see it when I am out I look at it and say that is my dream camera. I don't need it just yet,but I would love to have a  dlsr as a starter out photographer camera. I just would like to learn more about both the nikon and cannon dlsr cameras. In the near future I just hope not to waste my money buying a camera that I am not sure how to use it. I am sure it is like anything though, I will just have to read about the camera and practice using it.When I ask some people about what camera they think I should do,I often get the response of it all depends on your preference. I understand that though but,I am not sure. Which is easier to use a nikon or a cannon? Does one take better picture then the other? These are the questions I need to find out, because I am not sure what my peference is. I will decide soon and I will feel confident with my choice when I am ready.Until then  in my free time I will look into prices, research both the cameras,go cmaera shopping and read. I will post my choice, sometime soon!

So different/Getting some time to get used to

In high school when devopling film you open the film iun a black jacket. The black jacket had sleves and all the supplies would be in their. For example,in the jacket would be scissors,a plastic developing tank,a bottle opener, and a reel. The bottle opener would be used to open the film. Then you would reel tthe film on the reel. The sicissors would be used to cut the end of the fim,and the final step is putting the reel in the developing tank. All these steps used in high school were used in my photo class. The only difference is the jacket was used in high school and in college they use a room smaller than a closet. This will take time to getting used to. The sub on wednesday asked me which I like better, and I said I wasn't sure. Now I may think I like the jacket better. The closet will take time to get used to.

The almost accident

In photography class on wednesday we devolped our film. We had a sub ,but he went over the steps in devolping. We devolped in sets of two,the first step was opening the film.Opening the film was challenging because you went in a room that was really small dark, because you don't want to expose your film. The room was like a colset ,but it was smaller. When I went in to open my film I opened a door that someone was already in,and they screamed and said no.I felt awful,I thought I ruined their film. I certainly learned a lesson when the door is shut knock first so you don't open a door when someone is already in it. I apologized a bunch of times because I didn't do it on purpose, but my classmate said don't worry about it. Thankfully their film turned out in everything,I was so nervous their film wouldn't turn out at all. Thankfully my classmate was not mad at me and it turned out to be okay.

One of my favorites

I took this image in the summer 2010 and it is one of my personal favorites that I love. I took this image in Wildwood Crest,New Jersey.  I love this picture because it has the two boats in it that look like two lonely boats just floating their and the sun was going down at the perfect time. It was one of those perfect moments!

I would love to take pictures like this

I love this photo! I love that it is a old time photo  and that I belive I heard it wasn't plannned. Such a great photo!

Never Ending Love...

Today was my second day of my photography class and I walked in being nervous. I was worried I would mess up or do something wrong. For class today we were supposed to bring in junk to make a photogram in the dark room. The class started out me and one of my classmates the only one in the room then my teacher showed up. The rest of the class showed up but they were about 5 mintutes late. The class started out everyone being in the dark room making photograms. A photogram is when you put down photo paper and place objects on the photo paper, and then you take the objects off and put the photo paper through chemicals. When you put the photo paper in the first bin with chemicals it is so amazing because you watch a picture come through. It goes from being a white piece of paper to a picture with the objects that you placed down and becomes a picture.A few of my favoriate things about film is that when you shoot film you don't know what the picture is going to look like, and I love watching the picture develop through chemicals because it just comes up. After everyone was done with the photograms we hung up images we brought in and talked about what we liked. Then we recvied our first assignment, our first assignment is to take a roll of film of depth of feild. My teacher would like us to get a feel for depth of feild. Next week week he told us he would like us to partner up with one of our classmates and develop the film. I don't think I will ever stop loving photography! It is something I truley feel I have a passion for! I like to look at other photographers work and hear how they started out,I found it interesting how photographers take their images and started out. I hope to take good depth of feild photographs, will see and I will keep you up dated.

Photography class

Today was my first day of my Photography class in College. I am hoping it is going to be a little bit of a re-fresher,it is black&white photography and I think I am going to love it!I felt like I had a flash back to my high school photography class.I stepped into the dark room the first time since high school, and I thought it was so cool seeing some of the equipment again. I was familiar with most of the equipment. Our first photo shoot assignment will be next wednesday.I have to take the pictures with my film camera, but I will do both film and digital and I hope to share my images. My goals for this course is to develop film better, take better images, and have more confidence in my self. One of my struggles in high school was developing the film,I felt like I always had to ask for help by my teacher or from a student. The part that scares me about developing the film is you can't see it and your trying to open it in this black jacket and put it on a reel, after that I feel okay. I just have to stay positive,I guess and I can.Going into the class today I was nervous because I was starting something new, leaving the class I couldn't wait till the next class.I don't think I will dislike this class,I think it will be challenging but fun,I enjoy it already!

It is my dream!

I would love to become a photographer! I took three years of photography in high school and fell in love with it. I love the fact that you can look back at your memories, and it is capturing a moment. I would love to learn more about photography. I would like to learn about photoshop, cameras, and how to take better photo's.I like black&white photo's and color.I take mostly digital images, although I do have a traditional camera too.At the moment I am looking into buying myself a DLSR Camera,I am just not sure exactly what I would like just yet. I love to make people happy and looking through the lens I see smiles and that makes me happy.I am just staring out,I am in my freshman year of college.I hope to receive a degree or certificate in photography. At the moment I am taking liberal studies classes, but I hope to transfer and further my education in photography. I hope to blog about photography and post some of my pictures.
I have a friend who is a photographer and I have been to some of her photo shoots and it made me love photography even more!Photography is something I don't want to give up because I love it,and I hope to follow my dream even if I start out part time or full time.
